Blackpool Wednesday 5th February 2003

The weather over Yorkshire today was looking superb so I thought about where I might take the Europa today. I have been meaning to go to Blackpool for a while now so given the superb vis I thought today would be ideal.

I left Eddsfield at 10.40 and took the most direct route. This took me through the Linton on Ouse MATZ then a quick change to Leeds Bradford radar for crossing of their Northern airway. From there it was direct to Blackpool, talking to Warton Radar staying well North of their zone.

The vis on route was fantastic and I could see the tower 35 miles away.

Time from Eddsfield to Blackpool was 1 hour 5 mins

Once at Blackpool I was relieved of £15 for the landing fee and 1 hour parking while I took a quick trip to town for some food. This was to be a quick turnaround as I wanted to make the most of the good weather and visit a couple more airfields on the way back.

I found a cafe just down the road which was a "Christian cafe" food looked good and there were some workmen in there having lunch so I suspected it must be good. Steakpie, Chips, Peas and gravy with a cup of coffee for £3.60 was fine by me. I was delicious!

Back to the airport I booked out and set off. There was a short delay for landing oil rig helicopters and I was off on my way.
This time I was taken out to the South Due to a inbound BAE 146 to Warton

Inbound to Sherburn for a fueling stop, time from Blackpool to Sherburn 50 mins, then on to Beverley for a quick coffee before arriving back at Eddsfield as 16.20 pm

Another good day I love my Europa!
